Chitterchatter

Description

The Chitterchatter, a fascinating flora standing at a height of about 3 feet, is adorned with delicate, bell-shaped flowers that range in color from pale pink to deep violet. Known for its unique ability to mimic sounds in its vicinity, it thrives anywhere with wildlife, sometimes even making its way into cities. When a bird or bug ventures too close, the plant lunges forward, capturing its prey in the bell flower, paralyzing and consuming the creature.

Properties

The Chitterchatter holds a unique enchantment within its form: it mimics any sound that occurs within 20 feet of it 1d4 rounds later at the same volume and pitch. This includes spoken words, animal calls, the clashing of weapons, and even magical sounds. When a tiny creature approaches within a 5ft range, it lunges at them with a +2 melee attack. If the attack hits, the creature takes 1d4 piercing damage and is grappled. The creature must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution check or be paralyzed. Each turn while grappled, the creature takes 1d4 acid damage.

Cultivation

Propagation of the Chitterchatter is achieved through the seeds found within its flowers. These seeds are extremely delicate and must be handled with care. The plant thrives with ample sunlight and a diverse range of sounds, making it difficult to cultivate in quiet or isolated areas.

Applications

The petals of the Chitterchatter offer unique applications. They can be used to send quick messages as if casting the Message cantrip, after which the petal is destroyed. Additionally, paralyzing poison can be extracted from the flower but it only affects tiny creatures.
